Latifa's nice performance in Carthage
On the occasion of the national Women's Day in Tunisia on August 13, famous Tunisian diva Latifa gave a concert in Carthage, an ancient and Punic city founded by the Phoenicians. Carthage is now a posh town in northern Tunisia, appreciated by official people like ambassadors for example, but not only. Carthage is a cultural and touristic city, too. Women's Day commemorates the promulgation of the Personal Status Code of 13 August 1956 which establishes equality between men and women as citizens. That Code is considered like a real revolution by women. The instigator of this revolution is Habib Bourguiba, who was Prime Minister at that time. Latifa has rewarded the audience with a beautiful musical performance that lasted three hours! Thousands fans attended the event as well as VIPs and celebrities from various countries. Latifa has performed several of her greatest hits as well as religious songs (because of Ramadan!) and Tunisian folk songs. Regarding Latifa's voice, her fans consider the singer like a great vocalist; again, she is able to interpret even with talent various Arab musical styles from Arab classical style (called Tarab) to Algerian chaabi (folk music) as in the song Khalleouni, either pop music style (as in the song Kerehtak), without forgetting Malouf style (Andalusian-Arab music)... |
